Goodbye PayPal

Sunday January 1st 2012

Effective immediately, the SRA will no longer be accepting payments for documents via PayPal. After over a year of using them exclusively as our payment provider, it has come to our attention that PayPal enforces certain policies that we find unacceptable. Rather than provide tacit approval of these policies, we have discontinued accepting payments until we can establish a relationship with a new payment provider.

We anticipate this matter being resolved within the next four to six weeks.

All outstanding orders paid for via PayPal that have not yet shipped will be fulfilled by the end of the week.

Public Profiles and Updated Registration Documents

Wednesday November 16th 2011

The features described in Monday's post have launched.

  • New registrants will have a Public Profile (here's a sample) upon completing the registration process.
  • Existing registrants can sign into their accounts to update their account information with extended profile data.
  • Printed copies of registration documents now contain a QR code that links to the relevant Public Profile. If you have ordered a printed copy of your registration but have not received it yet, it will be printed using the new format.
  • If you are interested in purchasing a wallet photo ID card (available by December), we recommend adding a photo to your account now. A number of registrants with photos will be randomly selected to receive free ID cards as part of a test run.

If you encounter any errors or problems, please let us know via the Inquiries page.

Upcoming New Features and Privacy Considerations

Monday November 14th 2011

In the next 36 hours we will be launching a number of new features on supernaturalregistration.org. We want to let you know about these changes in advance, so that we might allay privacy concerns among registered entities.

Sample Public Profile

We will be introducing Public Profiles, which will allow registered entities to share more information about themselves with other entities and the public in general. By default, every entity’s Public Profile will display their first and last name, their species or entity type and their SEN. This information is already publicly available via each entity’s Electronic Registration Certificate.

Registered entities will have the ability to opt-in to share additional details on their Public Profile, including a photo, biographical text and approximate location (limited to city and country). Entities can also choose to appear in public search results based on their details. All of these features are opt-in and will NOT be enabled by default for new or existing profiles – none of this information will be shared without consent.

Additionally, the Electronic Registration and Extended Registration Certificates are being modified to include a QR code that will link to the relevant Public Profile. This will allow SRA agents to verify an entity’s registration status with greater speed.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact us.
